Crag-to-summit

Take your climbing to new heights. Learn the fundamental skills needed to take on more committing alpine climbs and mountaineering routes in big mountains. Over the course of this 3 day program we will start with the skills already learned through cragging, sport climbing, and multi-pitch trad climbing and expand those skillsets into a more adaptable toolbox that will give you the confidence and competence to deal with the dynamic environment of alpine rock climbs. Go beyond the dichotomy of either free-soloing or fully pitching out easier terrain (3rd, 4th, easy 5th class) and learn to quickly and effectively utilize the rope to increase security for you and your partners. Learn the art of managing complex, technical descents (assess and establish rappel anchors, using the rope to protect difficult and exposed downclimbs, increasing security to approach exposed rappel stations, and what to do if your rope ends up too short).

Program will include 2 full in-person field days and 1 day of virtual learning.
